Created in the spirit of TED’s mission, “ideas worth spreading,” the TEDx program is designed to give communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level. TEDx events are fully planned and coordinated independently, on a community-by-community basis.

Levent GÜREL
Scientist and Engineer
Levent Gürelwas born 1964 in Izmir. He is a Turkish scientist and electrical engineer. He is the Director of Computational Electromagnetics Research Center and a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in Bilkent University, Turkey.
By implementing a fully parallelized version of the multilevel fast multipole algorithm.Prof. Gürel’s research group has been solving the world’s largest integral-equation problems since 2006. Most recently, they accomplished the solution of dense matrix equations involving as many as 550 million unknowns.
Among the recognitions of Prof. Gürel's accomplishments, the two prestigious awards from the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TUBA) in 2002 and the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) in 2003 are the most notable.
